After the undeniable success of Iggy Azalea's No. 1 hit "Fancy," featuring artist Charli XCX announced her upcoming sophomore studio album "Sucker."

The 22-year-old Brit's follow-up to her debut album "True Romance" is set for a release on Oct. 21 via Neon Gold/Atlantic. She also premired the new record's lead single titled "Break the Rules" on Monday via BuzzFeed News. In the alternative rock and pop mash-up track, she certainly expresses her rebellious side. "I don't wanna go to school / I just wanna break the rules," she sings.

The singer-songwriter discussed the alternative rock and pop mash-up track to the website.

"The song is inspired by a lot of the things I was listening to whilst in Sweden at the end of last year," she said. "I spent about a month making a punk record and covering songs by Swedish punk bands like Snuffed by the Yakuza and stuff.

"This song was written when I came out of the other side of that punk phase and translated it into something more pop. Obviously, it's about not giving a f*ck."

She also told Billboard in May, "I never want to make the same thing twice. I never want to make another 'True Romance' -- I want to make something different and something special. I remember when I went into the studio with Stargate, and they had this beat that they wanted me to write on, and it had the same tempo as [Icona Pop's] 'I love it.' They were like, 'This is your thing now!' And I was like, 'No! Oh no!'"

Following Icona Pop's chart-topping "I Love It," co-written by herself, Charli XCX's recent single "Boom Clap" climbed to No. 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. She has been nominated for Video of the Year, Best Female Video, Best Art Direction and Best Pop Video for "Fancy" at the forthcoming MTV Video Music Awards this year.
