Social networking is coming to the Xbox One.

Microsoft, according to Polygon, has announced yesterday that the highly popular Reddit is coming to Xbox One via ReddX. With the program, owners of the Xbox One will be able to browse the social networking site, up and down vote the content from their console and submit their own links.

ReddX will be available on Aug. 19 in North America. There will also be other apps like Reeddit, which will make it easier for console owners to browse Reddit with a controller, although the first app that has been built exclusively for a console is ReddX, according to Larry Hyrb of Xbox.

It will be a new user experience for Xbox One owners as they can rewind, pause and fast-forward GIFs.

On the front page of the ReddX app's left hand side will be the list of topics and the the GIFs, YouTube videos and images will automatically load on the right side.

Console owners with Kinects can even use the camera to voice-control ReddX. Those without the Kinect bundle can use their controllers or install an Xbox SmartGlass device app so they can log in and post their comments.

There will also be a new MTV app that will be available together with ReddX soon. This app will provide bonus clips, updates on the Xbox One Twitch app and sneak peeks while TV subscribers can access full episodes of MTV shows.

The Twitch update will enable users of the Xbox One who like to stream videos to capture audio from their headsets while they are still playing and allow viewers to see which live streams are being watched by their friends.

It still remains to be seen how the community will take to the ReddX app. Will they welcome it and will they find it a necessary app for their game console?

According to Forbes, website apps are tricky when used on consoles and Reddit may even receive some criticism for allowing its use. It's possible that many people would still rather use Reddit via their computers, tablets or smartphones.
