"Avengers: Age of Ultron" is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2015, and the long waiting period has been filled with rumors, speculations, half-truths, spoilers and possible plot reveals. According to DNA India, the biggest rumor floating around is that Tony Stark will either be killed off in the latest sequel or he will take off the Iron Man suit. This came after Marvel's epic panel at the recently concluded Comic-Con in Germany and the release of the movie's first stock footage.

It seems that the rumor is being fanned by a statement from Robert Downey Jr. that he would like to retire as the Iron-clad Avenger. The actor is the flagship character in this cinematic franchise.

The thing that confuses fans is the fact that Robert Downey Jr. has already signed on for at least one more Avengers movie after "Avengers: Age of Ultron." He has also hinted earlier about the possibility of having a fourth Iron Man movie. So now the speculation is that should he die in Avengers 2, the story will have to be very well orchestrated and that he will either be resurrected or there will be other means to bring him back to the franchise.

Although this is just a rumor at this stage, people are saying that the director, Joss Whedon, has been known to kill off any character, even fan favorites, and that is why some are beginning to believe that there is some truth to this.

What is known so far about the new film came from the footage that was shown during Comic-Con, Slashfilm reported. It is believed that the story will pick up from the ending scene of "Captain America: Winter Soldier," after Baron Von Strucker and the twins Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch were all captured and inside a cell. The staff of Loki had been retrieved by the team, and Stark Towers became the new headquarters of the Avengers as S.H.I.E.L.D. had been disbanded.
