Since the later half of last year, the Google Nexus 5 has continued the brand's offering of a pure version of an Android device at a low cost with high specs. Almost a year later, gadget enthusiasts await the next iteration of Google's device. However, the awaited Nexus 6 materializing anytime soon is something that is not guaranteed since Google is reportedly busy with its new Android Silver program on which it is collaborating with high-end device makers. According to Tech Radar, the company will be teaming up with key smartphone developers for this project which could end the Nexus line. Android Silver could start coming around by February in 2015.

Dave Burke, head of engineering of Android, has nonetheless confirmed that they still have investments in Nexus. There have also been speculations that hopes for the Nexus 6 may not be dead after all according to developers who have found such indications by sifting through the code for the Chromium browser by Google.

Nexus is something that Android purists truly appreciate since the Google-made device features no other modifications compared to other smartphone manufacturers. With the Nexus, users have always had access to the full OS and the latest updates. Moreover, the impressive specifications at the given price are extremely attractive.

While nothing is known about the plans or existence or development of a Nexus 6, "leaked" benchmark results for the device suggest that it may be compared with the current-gen rivals including the HTC One M8 and the Samsung Galaxy S5. Also according to rumors, the Nexus 6 would be running on Android 5 L with a 5.2-inch screen at a 2560x1440 resolution. Moreover, it is believed to feature 3 GB of memory with a quad-core Qualcomm processor and 24 GB of storage. Cameras would be 12 megapixels for the primary camera and 2 megapixels for the one on the front.
