The San Antonio Spurs and the Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly signified their interest in signing free agent guard Ray Allen, ESPN reported on Saturday.

The Spurs and the Clippers are both looking to add another shooter in their formidable squad, and Allen is on top of their list, joining the Cleveland Cavaliers in the race to acquire the 39-year-old shooting guard.

San Antonio, who defeated Allen and the Miami Heat in last season's final, have one roster spot left. It is unclear, though, how determined they are in pursuing Allen, considering the fact that the Spurs are also interested in signing Gustavo Ayon, who is currently playing for Mexico in 2014 FIBA World Cup.

On the other hand, the Clippers' interest in Allen did not come as a surprise, considering the fact that Doc Rivers, the team's president of basketball operations and coach, spent five successful seasons with the sweet-shooting guard in Boston from 2007 to 2012, winning a championship together in 2008.

The Clippers, who only have 11 players under contract for the 2014-15 NBA season, are reportedly shopping for another shooter who could complement superstars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

Allen averaged a career-low 9.6 points and 2.8 rebounds last season, but the 18-year veteran remains as one of the deadliest shooters in the league, and is the all-time leader for three-pointers made with 2,973 shots made from beyond the arc.

The former Connecticut standout confirmed earlier this month that Rivers called him this offseason to gauge his interest in playing for the Clippers. Allen maintained, though, that he is still undecided about returning for another season. But if he decides to play, Allen reiterated that he will also consider the financial aspect of any deal.

"A lot have called. Doc called earlier in the summer," Allen said on Aug. 4 via Boston Herald. "A lot of teams want to be able to get me at the veteran's minimum. I still have an ego, too. I still have a service to provide, and teams still have to pay me what I feel my presence is worth. I have to take that into consideration, if it's worth putting my body through what it will take over 82 games."
