Molly's journey in "Extant" is similar to that of "Alice in Wonderland." She is not sure what she is getting herself involved in -- albeit aliens and a mad man -- but she is determined to overcome the obstacles that stand in her way.

This is indeed the ordeal that is going on in the latest "Extant" back-to-back Episodes 9 and 10. There is an alien baby who is not at all friendly; Molly's desperation to be with her alien baby; and Sparks who wants to be with his own family no matter what!

CBS' "Extant" has already expanded its story arch so much that one wonders what more can the show surprise its audiences with. As a matter of fact, Wednesday's show still kept its audiences hooked with compelling storytelling, superb acting and great suspense. This is part one of my review of Episode 9 titled "Care and Feeding."

The last time we saw the intrepid MKK Team of Molly (Halle Berry), Kryger (Brad Beyer) and Kern (Maury Sterling), they had been separated. Sparks (Michael O'Neil) had agreed with the creature to take it out of the lower levels of the International Space Exploration Agency (ISEA)/Claypool Labs. And, John (Goran Visnjic) had turned to Yasumoto (Hiroyuki Sanada) for help.

The MKK Team (Molly, Kryger, Kern) is no more after Kryger decides that the alien must be killed. After Kryger abandons Molly in the ISEA/Claypool Labs, she tries to find a way out through the dead bodies that the creature left in its wake.

Kryger is accurate in his assumption that the creature must be stopped. He says to Molly, "This is no baby if it could kill all these people." Molly is motherly to the end, she replies, "You don't understand, it was doing this to protect itself."

As was stated in a previous review, executive producer Steven Spielberg borrows a lot from his previous work. In this instance, just like in Spielberg's critically acclaimed TV series "Taken," he uses it for the creature and its abilities.

The creature in "Extant" has the ability to project images of people's dead loved ones. And then it manipulates those images so that people could do whatever it wanted. It is a form of telepathy, casting illusions and mind control rolled into one. The alien's method is so far a dangerous combination. The creature uses this ability to manipulate Sparks into seeing his 12 year-old daughter. Sparks does whatever his "little girl" wants. This level of control sets the tone for both episodes.

Meanwhile back at Claypool Labs, Molly attempts to escape through the elevator shafts. It is an arduous task for Molly: At first she climbs, then falls but then gets back up. She even crawls up the wall to get to the next floor above her.

It is throughout her escape that Molly has a flashback. She remembers the time just before her solo mission. We learn now that Molly's purpose of the solo-mission was to get away from her family, John and Ethan (Pierce Gagnon). This shows that Molly has always been determined and that she is a fighter.

Speaking of Molly's family: John and Ethan, along with Julie (Grace Gummer) and Odin (Charlie Bewley), they all wait at Yasumoto's mansion for Molly. We know now that Sparks is definitely an enemy, but who is Yasumoto? Is he a friend or foe? Or is he just like Sparks -- a desperate man who is willing to lose everything for survival? Yasumoto seemingly helps John and his family.

After Yasumoto secures Molly, she confronts him about her baby: "You took my baby from me." But they eventually team up to find it. Is this the new "MY Team" (Molly and Yasumoto)? No! Yasumoto wants the baby bad enough, so he brings outside help -- Dr. Mason (Owain Yeoman) -- to help Molly. It is one long race to find the alien baby and Sparks.

Yasumoto, Molly, Dr. Mason and Molly's former team members -- Kryger and Kern -- are all getting closer to finding the alien. Sparks has secured it in a parks and recreation facility. The whole ordeal quickly goes out of control, however. Sparks kills the park owner and then kidnaps and nearly kills the sheriff. The alien stops him because it must feed. Feed? Not eat the sheriff, but "feed off" of him so that the alien could control him completely.

The whole alien business is getting out of control. Sparks believes that he is doing this for his daughter. Molly just wants to find her baby, and Kryger wants to kill it. And John wants his family back. Perhaps, Molly should have never gone on that solo mission.

Molly willingly took the leap down the rabbit hole, after what she has seen she is not going to stop searching for her child.
