Novak Djokovic advance to the fourth round of the 2014 U.S. Open tennis tournament after scoring an impressive win on Saturday at the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

Djokovic, the favorite to win in this year's tournament, scored a 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 straight-set win against crowd favorite Sam Querrey of USA in their third-round match.

The top-seeded Serb took control right from the opening set as he raced to a 5-0 lead, and his 26-year-old opponent failed to get his rhythm from then on despite getting strong support from the crowd.

Andy Murray also moved a step closer to facing Djokovic in the quarterfinals after winning against Andrew Kuznetsov of Russia 6-1, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 to book a spot in the fourth round of the tournament.

With the win, Murray arranged a fourth-round match against ninth-seeded Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France, who won against Pablo Carreno Busta of Spain 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

The winner of the Murray-Tsonga match could meet Djokovic in the quarterfinal should the world No. 1 win against Philipp Kohlschreiber in the fourth round.

On the women's side, Serena Williams took down another compatriot as she scored a 6-3, 6-3 win against Varvara Lepchenko on Saturday to keep her hope of winning a third-straight U.S. Open title alive.

Williams, who defeated compatriots Taylor Townsend and Vania King in the first two rounds, went ahead early, 3-1, in the opening set, but the top-seeded admitted that her win was harder that it looked.

"I definitely had to fight to find my rhythm," Williams said via the tournament's official website. "At the same time she was playing really well. She was going for shots, getting so many balls back. It wasn't like my shots, she just got them back and hit a better shot at times. For me, it was just about hanging in there."

Williams, a five-time U.S. Open champion, will face Kaia Kanepi in the fourth round. Kanepi won against Carla Suarez Navarro of Spain in the third round 7-5, 6-0.
