The multi-award winning TV series "General Hospital" is the third longest running drama series in American television history. The medical drama debuted in 1963 and currently has 51 seasons. It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the "world's longest-running American soap opera in production."

With the cancellation of "One Life to Live" and "All My Children" in 2011, General Hospital became the only soap opera running on ABC.

TV drama fans continue to follow the series and there have been many comings and goings on the show in terms of cast. "General Hospital" executive producer Frank Valentini had kept mum on the rumors of a new addition to the cast, despite fans clamoring for confirmation. Finally, it has been officially revealed that Billy Miller will be joining the cast as Jason Morgan, She Knows Soaps reports. Fans of both "The Young and the Restless" and "General Hospital" are quite excited to see one of their favorite actors back on TV once again, after missing him for nine months.

It's finally official -- Billy Miller will play Jason Morgan. For months now, fans have been looking forward to confirmation of these rumors and spoilers. Finally, executive producer Frank Valentini has leaked the details, but the date when he will be seen on the highly rated medical drama has yet to be confirmed, according to Inquistr.

The latest in the way of rumors is that Billy Miller, who was welcomed and confirmed by Valentini via Twitter, is said to make an appearance in the Sept. 14 episode of the series. There are also some stars who will be back for the current season, including Robin Mattson (Heather), Blake Gibbons (Coleman) and Donna Mills (Madeline Reeves). Anthony Geary (Luke Spencer) will still be out, as he is still recuperating from two spinal surgeries and probably will be back by October.
