If Apple continues with its usual pattern, then there could be enough reason to believe that the iOS 8 will be out as early as Sept. 10. In its WWDC 2014 keynote, the company visibly focused its efforts on presenting the new update of its mobile operating system, which looks very similar to iOS 7 but adds several improved features.

This means that instead of an overhaul, this year's mobile operating system from Apple will be more of an improvement on the existing one. The iOS 8 is expected to tie everything together with the theme of "convergence." Apple's mobile capabilities are expected to have a tighter integration, bringing together the once fragmented features such as the health gadgets and fingerprint sensor security system, MacRumors reports.

While a system update has been discussed, there was nothing said about the iPhone 6 at the WWDC. Still, there have been numerous leaks online, suggesting that the upcoming iPhone with the new operating system will be coming this month. Additionally, iOS 8 could also set the stage for the arrival of the rumored iWatch, Apple's expected product for the wearable tech market. However, this gadget could take until up to early 2015 to be released.

With a major Apple event coming up on Tuesday, Sept. 9, there is a good possibility that the iOS 8 will be up on servers by the following day on Wednesday, Sept. 10. This would also be consistent with Apple's trend of announcing new iPhones on Tuesdays. Also following history, the beta versions usually finalize their runs around early this month.

iOS 8 will be compatible with most existing devices that the iOS 7 has been compatible with, except the 2010 iPhone 4. This means that all iPhones from the iPhone 4S on up and devices newer than the iPad 2 and fifth generation iPod touch will work with the new iOS.
