The American comedy drama film "Magic Mike" was positively received despite the adult theme.

It was a box office success, having made more than $167 million at box offices globally, a considerably high return for the $7 million production budget. It is considered to be the highest grossing movie in the dance genre.

With all its critical and box office success, it's not too surprising that a sequel would be in the works.

According to Screen Rant, Magic Mike will be coming back in the second half of next year and the sequel will be called "Magic Mike XXL."

Most of the cast will likely be coming back for the sequel. Those actors included Channing Tatum as the lead, Alex Pettyfer as the kid Adam, Cody Horn as Adam's sister and Mike's love interest and Matt Bomer as Ken. The film also includes Olivia Munn, Adam Rodriguez, Kevin Nash, Gabriel Iglesias, Mircea Monroe, Riley Keough and Wendi McLendon-Covey.

Matthew McConaughey and Joe Manganiello, however, are still uncertain about reprising their roles. In April, Tatum said that he believed everyone would be back for the sequel but whether or not that is the case remains to be seen.

According to Latino Post, director Steven Soderbergh will no longer be helming the next "Magic Mike" movie. The director's seat has been passed to Gregory Jacobs, but Soderbergh will still be involved with the project as film editor and director of photography.

Soderbergh decided to pass on the directing opportunity because he preferred not to be the front man this time around. Gregory Jacobs is already familiar with the project since he served as assistant director in the prequel.

"Magic Mike XXL" will hit theaters on July 3, 2015. This schedule is earlier than the original release date. It is presumed that the producers want to have a bigger head start on the Independence Day holiday weekend so they decided to show the film earlier. There hasn't been a trailer released yet.
