American singer and songwriter Meghan Elizabeth Trainor is also a musician and producer.

Trainor recently gained prominence with her song "All About That Bass," which was released this year. Her song has recently reached No. 1 in the U.S. charts. The pop singer's debut single pushed down Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" from the top position after being there for two weeks, according to Billboard.

Meghan Trainor is a Nantucket native, where she grew up with a musical family. She had been writing songs since she was only 11 years of age.

In order for her to produce her own songs, her parents bought her a computer when she was 13 years old. They moved to Hyannis, Massachusetts so that she along with her two brothers could study at Nauset Regional High School.

She attended the Durango Songwriters' Expo when she was 17, where she was introduced to Carla Wallace of Big Yellow Dog Music by NRBQ's Big Al Anderson. Shortly after she turned 18, Trainor signed up with Big Yellow Dog as a songwriter. She was still in high school at that time.

She wrote and self-released an album called "I'll Sing With You" in 2011 and later went on many writing trips to Nashville, New York and Los Angeles before settling down in Nashville full time. She's had songwriting cuts with R5, Sabrina Carpenter and Rascal Flats, as well as several other artists.

It was during one of her writing trips that she met and wrote with Kevin Kadish, a Grammy-nominated producer. The two wrote "All About That Bass" this year and her publishing company told her that many artists might be interested in recording it. However, L.A. Reid heard a demo of the song and signed Trainor to Epic Records, which allowed her to become a solo artist and release the song.

"All About That Bass" not only topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart but in several other countries as well, such as New Zealand, Denmark, Canada and Australia.
