Since before it premiered, "Yo Soy El Artista" has said it would be very different from other singing competition shows.

And it delivered with its premiere episode on Sept. 14.

Each contestant started singing in front of a panel of 100 influencers in the media, which included some in the music industry and YouTube stars. Some contestants were asked questions, but all had just 45 seconds to make an impression on the influencers.

In order to get through, each singer had to get 51 votes in the allotted time. If they accomplished that, then the platforms where the influencers were seated would open up, allowing each contestant to get through to the five judges.

They had to get three votes in order to complete the catwalk and get to where host Lucero was.

The first few contestants got through quickly, but when the first contestant failed to get all the judges' votes, Lucero announced that she had the opportunity to save some of them.

But at the end of the show, she could really only keep one of them from going home.

Some of the contestants that stood out were Envee, who had bright red hair. She was influenced by pinups and vintage styles, which was reflected in her outfit. She also impressed with her version of "El Hombre Perfecto."

César also had one of the best performances of the night. He sang Ricky Martin's "La Copa de la Vida," and he proved that he could entertain audiences with his singing and dancing.

Contestant Andre impressed the judges another way. His music stopped playing, but he continued to perform, proving that he was dedicated to the competition.

Juan Luis Guerra was also on hand to perform. The first time he sang "Tus Besos," and toward the end of the show, he performed once again with judge Luis Fonsi. The two sang "Llegaste Tu."

Lucero ended up saving four contestants -- Jonathan, Diana, Sheniel and Jazzy. Ultimately, Lucero decided to save Diana.
