Rock band U2 was feeling generous when they released their new album "Songs of Innocence" for free to all 500 million iTunes users. However, some iTunes users were not too happy with the new album they found sitting in their iTunes library. Now Apple has created a tool to help those users delete the album.

Free music is a good thing for most, but many who do not like U2 or did not wish to have the album ended up getting it anyway. Because of auto-downloads and auto-updates, many iTunes users found the entire "Songs of Innocence" album in their music library, and they never authorized it.

Many of these users are seeking a way to delete this album from their library and music devices. Apple understands that not everyone has the same taste in music and did not necessarily want the album, so the company has created a special link with instructions to delete the U2 album.

Here's what the page displays when a user decides to click over to it:

If you would like U2's Songs of Innocence removed from your iTunes music library and iTunes purchases, you can choose to have it removed. Once the album has been removed from your account, it will no longer be available for you to redownload as a previous purchase. If you later decide you want the album, you will need to get it again. The album is free to everyone until October 13, 2014 and will be available for purchase after that date.

It seems like a warning to users not to delete the album, but they still offer a way to do it.

Once a user goes to that page and clicks through the prompts, it is pretty straight forward, and Apple takes care of deleting the entire album from the user's iTunes library.

U2 manager Guy Oseary told Mashable, "It's a gift from Apple. If someone doesn't like the gift, they should delete it."

It's really up to the user. If they want the free music and to save about $20, they should keep it. If not, Apple provided a way to delete the songs.
