The Wachowskis are some of the most popular filmmakers in the industry, especially after their tremendous success with "The Matrix" and "V for Vendetta."

The filmmakers have struggled to make their mark critically in recent years and will look to win people over with their upcoming film "Jupiter Ascending."

Here is what we know about the space opera:

Film Delayed, Slated for February 2015

The film was originally supposed to come out in the summer and be Warner Bros' big summer blockbuster alongside Godzilla. However, the film was delayed, with claims that it was not completed and some of the effects still needed work.

The change was a bit dubious. The film was positioned to be a big blockbuster in the middle of the summer, but was then suddenly delayed one month prior to its release. The fact that it was pushed back to the beginning of next year, when most films are critically lambasted, probably speaks to a greater issue with the film. Warner Bros probably did not feel it was a good enough film and opted for a safer window when no one would pay as much attention. Speaking of which...

It Will Probably Be a Big Bomb

Of course, this is not a guarantee, as films are starting to do well throughout the calendar. But just put this into perspective:

The last time the Wachowskis had a truly successful box office hit was "The Matrix Reloaded." The third installment in the franchise was a huge flop and the two films that they directed since then have flopped tremendously. "Speed Racer" only made $43 million domestically and failed to capture more than $100 million internationally. "Cloud Atlas," which received better reviews, only made $27 million domestically and $130 million worldwide.

This new film is not a major franchise and its release window coincides with the time period in which movie enthusiasts are trying to catch up on the Oscar nominees. It is not a timely released and could lead to financial doom and gloom.

If Warner Bros really believed in the financial muscle of this film, the studio would have opted for a summer release when science fiction pictures are expected to perform well. The fact that it has hidden the movie away in February speaks to its lack of confidence.

It Has an All-Star Cast

The film still has hope, mainly due to its stars. Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum headline the movie. Tatum is known for being a box office draw, while Kunis is more of a mixed bag in that department. Sean Bean, Eddie Redmayne, Douglas Booth, Tuppence Middleton, Terry Gilliam, David Ajala, James D'Arcy, Tim Pigott-Smith, Charlotte Beaumont, Sarah Campbell, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kick Gurry, Edward Hogg, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Luke Neal are also cast in the film.

The Music Was Done Prior to Production

"We are not making a movie again without doing the music before," the Wachowskis revealed after their experience with Tom Twyker on "Cloud Atlas."

And so with this film they have followed up on that statement. Michael Giacchino has been hired to write the music and he has revealed that the score was completed prior to the filming of the project.

"We're actually recording all the music first, before they're even done shooting," he stated in an interview. "It's been done sort of backwards, and it's much more freeing doing that way. I'm not locked down to any specific timings and what the film is doing. I can do whatever I want. It opens up a lot more possibilities."
