Those lucky gamers who happen to be in Japan or happen to have a Nintendo club Platinum membership are no longer the only ones who can get the Super Smash Bros. 4 demo on Nintendo 3DS.

The Nintendo 3DS demo was released in North America on Friday after previously being made available to Platinum members and those in Japan, according to Guardian Liberty Voice.

In the demo, gamers will be able to choose from five characters with which to go into battle. Those characters are Mario, Villager, Mega Man, Pikachu and Link. Demo matches are fought in two-minute rounds and stock battles are not an option.

Players can choose either Battlefield with items on or off. Local multiplayer also is an option on the demo. For gamers familiar with previous Super Smash Bros. games, reviews say the demo plays more like Brawl than Melee.

The demo doesn't restrict the total amount of time gamers can spend playing but does limit the number of separate times gamers can play and will expire after 30 times.

In Super Smash Bros. 4, the Final Destination stage is the only stage users are allowed to play on in online mode For Glory.

While North American users have had to wait until Friday to download the demo, Japan already has access to the full version of the game. Some Japanese users began leaking the full version online, which some reports claim is the reason for Friday's release of the North American demo.

The full version of Super Smash Bros. 4 for Nintendo 3DS will be released to countries not called Japan and Australia on Oct. 3, according to a report from the Tech Times. The Australian release is set for Oct. 4.

Nintendo has been working on a Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U, but no release date has been given for that game.
