Rumors have been circulating that Apple will be releasing a new Macbook Air soon or perhaps sometime next year. Recent news about the laptop's potential Intel processor could mean the new Macbook would be released as soon as Christmas time.

In a statement released by Intel earlier this month, the company explains its new processor, the Intel® Core processor, will power various new laptop models and it "was purpose-built for amazing performance in the thinnest, fanless ultra-mobile devices." It can also deliver a battery lifespan twice as long as the previous Intel Core processor.

"We've been on a multi-year mission to address end-user requirements and transform mobile computing," Kirk Skaugen, senior vice president and general manager of personal computing at Intel Corporation, was quoted in the statement. "The introduction of Core M marks a significant milestone in that journey. Core M is the first of a new product family designed to deliver the promise of one of the world's thinnest laptops and highest performance tablets in a single 2-in-1 device."

According to Macworld U.K., this new ultra-thin processor could be used in the upcoming 12-inch Macbook Air. As Intel said in its statement, the processor is already in use by various computer companies including Toshiba, Acer, Dell, HP, among others in laptops and tablets. It could very well be used in the ultra-thin, fan-less new computer.

If this is the case, and the processor is already in use by other companies, the new Macbook Air will be available by Christmas times, predicts Macworld U.K. However, the release date could be pushed back into 2015.

However, if you want to get someone or yourself a Macbook maybe get the one offered by ColorWare. According to CNET, the company customizes tech products with unusual liveries.

The company has recently released a $3,499 Macbook Air "Retro," a regular Macbook Air that has been made look like a 1980's Apple computer, replete with its beige body color and rainbow Apple logo.
