A new propaganda video has been released online by the militant group ISIS. It shows a recorded video of a British photojournalist named John Cantlie, who has been held prisoner for almost two years. Cantlie appears to be calm as he delivers a message in the three-and-a-half-minute video, which he admits is a desperate gamble to save his life, according to the Guardian.

After he introduced himself, Cantlie called on the public to take action and force the British government and the U.S. to change their hostage-taking policies. Despite his calm, the photojournalist made it clear that he was under duress, not knowing whether he would be successful in his attempt to save his own life.

In the clip, Cantlie said that he knew what the viewers were thinking: He only did it because he's a prisoner and had a gun pointed at his head. However, he did not deny this and said that his fate is already in the hands of the Islamic State. He also said that he had nothing to lose, seeing that he had been "abandoned" by his government. Not knowing if he would live or die after the video was taken, Cantlie "took the opportunity" to "convey some facts."

What is interesting about the video is how it was made clear that it was just the first of a series of "programs" that will be filmed and released by ISIS, NBC reports. John Cantlie will again be appearing in the subsequent videos, where he will "show the truth" about western media and the war with the Islamic State. Pale, unkempt, thin and unshaven, the 43-year old appeared bruised while wearing the same orange jumpsuit similar to what the three murdered men wore in previous clips shown by ISIS.

The United Kingdom, like Washington, said that it would not be paying ransoms for the release of the terrorist group's captives.
