Apple may have recently announced its new phones, the iPhone 5s and the iPhone 5c, but the tech giant is only offering pre-orders for the colorful iPhone 5c but not for the iPhone 5s. However, there's been word from an employee source apparently that Target is taking iPhone 5s reservations instead, GottabeMobile reports.

So what is the difference between the terms "reservation" and a "pre-order"?

A pre-order means that you are guaranteed to have an iPhone 5s come September 20th while a reservation means that you are just reserved a place for whatever is the number of stock that will arrive on the official release date.

Beginning today, this means that you can already go to any Target retail store and place your reservation for the new Apple phone using a Target gift card purchase of $25. This will have your name in line for an iPhone 5s model but note that it does not guarantee you the stock.

To understand better, you are simply having your place reserved in line. This means that if you are the 12th person on the reservation list for a certain iPhone 5s model, 16GB and in gold color for instance, then Target gets 13 stocks for the very same model on Sept 20, then you are assured that Target will hold a unit for you.

With Apple not open to the iPhone 5s pre-orders, a lot of shoppers are expected to be in lines on the exact official release day and even fall short in supply at numerous stores.

The iPhone 5s is an upgraded version of the iPhone 5. It comes with new features like faster processor, a brand new camera and the most talked fingerprint sensor feature called the Touch ID. On the other hand, it is the iPhone 5c that is offered instead for pre-order all in its five interesting colors according to Web Pro News.

The iPhone 5s is set to cost the same in US and Canada, $199 (16GB), $299 (32GB) and $399 (64GB). On the other hand, its prices that are SIM-free in UK start at £549 (16GB), £629 (32GB), and £709 (64GB), as Expert Reviews stated.

On the other hand for Australia, Gizmodo reports that the iPhone 5s will start at $869 (16GB), $999 (32GB) and $1129 (64GB).

IBTimes adds that the iPhone 5s is set to release in a total of 9 countries like US, Canada, UK, Singapore, Japan, Germany, China, France and Australia by Sept 20.
