Long-time "Saturday Night Live" creator and producer Lorne Michaels recently confirmed the new roster of cast members for SNL for 2013-2014. New names include Cecily Strong, Brooks Wheelan, Kyle Mooney, Beck Bennett, John Milhiser, and Noël Wells, according to the New York Times.

Recent departures made by Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis prompted the biggest overhaul in SNL history, as the show has been depleted of its long-time cast. With the added departure of Seth Myers slated for February next year, Michaels had been busy assembling a roster of cast members that will hopefully carry on the tradition of powerful SNL humour.

Michaels, who is known for catapulting comedians to stardom, conducted auditions in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, a traditional process he applies to casting talent in the popular show. This time however, Michaels admits the seemingly gargantuan task is intimidating, saying that, "Everyone said to me, 'Oh, you've done this before,' which was cold comfort," according to the New York Times.

In addition to the news cast, Michaels is also revamping the SNL signature segment "Weekend Update," which is currently anchored by outgoing comedian Seth Meyers. The popular comedian is leaving the show for a hosting job with the "Late Night" show on NBC, which will take him away four nights every week. Michaels however, is hopeful that Myers will stay on even after his new project begins on Feb. 24.

With Myers gone however, Michaels is banking on Cecily Strong to possibly inherit the "Weekend Update," anchor chair, as she has proven to be an explosive hit in the segment as, "The Girl You Wished You Hadn't Started a Conversation With at a Party" in 2012, her very first season in the show. According to the New York Times, Michaels praised Strong, saying that, "Cecily, from the first show, was right there; she exploded." The general plan is for Strong to share the desk with Meyers for the initial shows of the new season.

Tim Robinson, who joined the cast the previous season, will be part of the writing pool while writer Mike O'Brien will be showcasing his acting chops this time around, after three years writing for the show.

Tina Fey will be returning as the guest host for the "Saturday Night Live" season premiere Sept. 28.
