Charges are expected to be filed Tuesday against the man accused of using a knife to behead a woman last week at a food processing plant in Moore, Oklahoma.

Moore Police Sgt. Jeremy Lewis said that Alton Nolen, 30, allegedly stabbed Colleen Hufford, 54, cutting off her head at Vaughan Foods in Oklahoma City. He then attacked another worker named Traci Johnson, 43, before he was shot and wounded by a manager at the company.

Authorities say Nolen launched the attack against the workers soon after he was fired from the company.

After "he was terminated, he drove to the front of the business, running into a vehicle, exited his vehicle, entered the business, where he encountered the first victim, Colleen Hufford, 54, and began assaulting her with a knife. He did kill Colleen and he did sever her head, said Lewis during a Friday news conference, according to CNN.

During the attack, Mark Vaughan, a reserve sheriff's deputy and the company's COO, opened fire and wounded Nolen. He is currently hospitalized in stable condition.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Sgt. Lewis is going to recommend that Nolen face charges of murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

In the days after the killing, Nolen's mother and sister released a video apologizing to the victim's families on Facebook.

"Our hearts bleed right now, because of what they're saying Alton has done," said a woman identified as Joyce Nolen. "I want to apologize to both families because this is not Alton."

Nolen's sister said her brother had "never been a violent person" and that the family was "in shock."

"My son was a good kid," added the mother. "I know what they saying, that he done, but I'm going to tell you this, that's not my son. There's two sides to every story, and we're only hearing one."

Nolen, a convicted felon, recently tried to convert several of his co-workers to Islam. He also posted a picture of a beheading on social media, reports the New York Daily News.
