Aymee V. Zubizarreta, CEO of plana zubizarretA group and creator of the new series "Merrick TV," was made in America, assembled by Cuban Parents and she is "100% #ModernDayLatina." Through her business and social endeavors, and the contemporary series, Zubizarreta has shown that today's modern Latinas are smart, ambitious, well-educated, career-driven and family-oriented. She's also proven that women are capable of achieving their own version of the American Dream.

When Zubizarreta was in elementary school, all of her friends enjoyed playing with Cabbage Patch Kids and Barbie dolls, but she preferred to play office. At seven-years-old, she was given a dollhouse as a Christmas present. She quickly converted the small, wooden structure into a fully functioning office space, foreshadowing a future where she would command Fortune 500 companies and national organizations as an "expert liaison" within the U.S. Hispanic market before she started a company of her own and gave back to her community.

"I took a pen and drew intercoms on the interior wood walls and then converted the kitchen table into two desks," Zubizarreta said to Latin Post during an interview. "I also routinely recruited my neighborhood friends to come over and 'work' with me. I have no idea what type of business I was running. I just recall thoroughly enjoying being the team leader."

Zubizarreta has used her early-gained leadership to help compose the English-language web series "Merrick Park," a series that finally showcases Latinas for who they really are: mothers, wives, small business owners, high-powered executives, doctors, lawyers, U.S. congress women, fashion designers, chefs and the "CEO's of the house and of our family's destiny's."

"Television has had an enormous impact on my childhood. For me, the television set was much more than a box with bunny ear antennas and a set of knobs. I viewed the glass screen as a window of opportunity. An opportunity to see how others live their lives, and to learn how I could live mine," said Zubizarreta. "Looking back at my early childhood, I recall gravitating towards shows that depicted strong, female characters. From "Melrose Place" (Heather Locklear) to "Dynasty" (Joan Collins). "Charlie's Angels" (Jacklyn Smith) to "Wonder Woman" (Lynda Carter). Little did I know then, these series would later serve as an inspiration for the show 'Merrick Park.'"

The TV show focuses on a group of tight-knit, accomplished 30-something professional Latinas from various backgrounds with various levels of acculturation. Together, these women celebrate conquests, chase similar dreams and tackle the challenges that many women face in the U.S.

"Merrick Park" is derived from Mariela Dabbah's "Find Your Inner Red Shoes." The three leading women illustrated on those pages are brought to life in "Merrick Park." Their bond and support, and their personal and professional journeys are made available for the public to see.

On Oct. 21, "Merrick Park" and The Red Shoe Movement will call on #ModernDayLatinas to celebrate Latina Empowerment Day by wearing their red heels to work. And later that evening, Merrick Park and The Red Shoe Movement will team up again to host a Twitter party that will be moderated by a number of top, Latina SM influencers.

"Merrick Park" will debut Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. EST via MerrickPark.TV. There will also be a local viewing party at Havana 1957 Restaurant in Miami's Brickell area.
