Apple is rumored to be mass-producing the upcoming iPad Air 2, which the company was set too reveal at its Oct. 16 media event, along with a new line of Macs.

But a leak to The Michael Report contained photos and features that are said to be of the iPad Air 2 and the rumored mass production likely would mean that the device won't be changed before its public release.

Rumors say that the new iPad Air will have a fully-laminated display, just like the iPhone 6, which will allow the tablet to be thinner than previous releases. The report claims that the device will be 0.5mm thinner and that Apple will market the iPad as the thinnest tablet available on the market.

The current iPad Air is 7.5mm thick, according to the Apple website.

The iPad Air 2 is expected to be released with a new speaker design, recessed volume buttons and microphones on the rear camera and on the side, as opposed to on the top. The tablet is also expected to be released with a gold option, which hasn't been available previously.

No specifics have been leaked about the screen resolution, but rumors hold that it will be improved over the previous generation.

The Air 2 is said that have an A8 processor, 2GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing HD camera and Touch ID fingerprint capabilities. It is rumored to come in 32GB, 64GB and 128 GB versions, according to a report from BGR on the rumors.

During Apple's Oct. 16 media event, the company also is expected to unveil a new Retina iPad Mini and could announce a new iPad Pro, thought rumors on that device have been few and far between.

Even though photos were leaked of the iPad Air 2, they have not been published to this point, thought they will likely come out before the media event.
