Many Minecraft fans were up in arms when news came through last month that Microsoft has a $2.5 billion deal in place to buy Mojang, half of the game's development team. Users were worried that the game would suffer under Microsoft.

Vu Bui, COO of Mojang, is trying to assuage those fears and said Friday that there were no plans to change the game or any of its capabilities, according to a report from BBC.

Bui added that the company would be looking to players for feedback on the direction the game should go.

"Nothing's really changing," Bui said about the Microsoft takeover. "We have no plans on anything changing and, of course, I can't talk about the deal and I don't know everything but we're still here, the game's still here, and it's business as usual."

Future versions of Minecraft always were going to change slightly for the sake of progress, with or without the presence of Microsoft, Buj said. The current system, in which Minecraft developers share with users what they are working on before it is added to the game, will continue.

Microsoft has yet to complete the deal to buy Mojang, but the deal is expected to go through by the end of the year.

Markus Persson, the inventor of Minecraft, has said that he approached Microsoft about buying Mojang because it had become a burden for him to run.

"I can't be responsible for something this big," he wrote soon after news of the deal was announced. "It's not about the money. It's about my sanity."

In other Minecraft new, the PlayStation Vita version of the game will be released on the PlayStation Store on Oct. 14, Sony announced on the PlayStation blog. The retail version will be released on Nov. 11. The game will cost $19.99.

"With the portability benefits of PS Vita and its dual analog control system, you can now transfer your existing Minecraft PS3 Edition save to and from the PS Vita Edition, and continue to build, explore, and conquer anytime, anywhere," Sony wrote on the blog. "When you're done, simply transfer your save to the PS4 Edition for the ultimate Minecraft experience."
