People camped outside stores waiting on line to have a chance to purchase, on Tuesday, Grand Theft Auto 5. After five years the British produced franchise has returned with a bang. Bringing in over $800 million, world wide, in its first 24 hours of its release it has shattered the record for day one profits.

Previously the record was held by Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 with $500 million in its first 24 hours of release. By day 3 Grand Theft Auto 5 hit the $1 billion mark. It took Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 approximately 15 days to reach that amount according to the LA Times report last year. Grand Theft Auto 5 can actually be the most profitable entertainment product ever released, this is including music and movies, and this is just within its first week.   

Besides record-breaking sales Grand Theft Auto 5 is currently being considered the highest rated video game ever. Grand Theft Auto 5 is buzzing within video game news outlet and being reviewed. The website Metacritic has rated Grand Theft Auto 5 with a score of 98% after averaging 40 other reviewing outlets. The Metacitic score ties Grand Theft Auto 5 with Grand Theft Auto 4, but that was no surprise.  

Grand Theft Auto 5 is billed as one of the most expensive games ever created, and even then it has gamers rejoicing over a single player game. On Oct 1st the highly anticipated online component titled Grand Theft Auto will be globally launched. The download will be free of charge for those who own the game. Grand Theft Auto Online takes the game to another level by offering 16-play co-op gameplay.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is available on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and expected to PC. More buzz on Grand Theft Auto 5 is expected to come and continue.
