The New York Comic Con 2014 opened Thursday, and the event expects about 150,000 guests during the four-day affair. There are some 600 artist signings, 400 panels, 800 exhibitors and a multitude of cosplayers at this event. Fans will have a great time touring the huge art gallery and the comic display areas. They'll also enjoy the new video games they can try out and the autograph signing events involving a number of celebrities such as Lucy Lawless, Patrick Stewart, William Shatner, Hulk Hogan, Giancarlo Esposito and Gillian Anderson, CBS News reports.

It is expected to be another star-studded affair, and on its first day, there was a tribute to Adam West's Batman. A special spotlight on the same day was "Doctor Who" with actor Arthur Darvill. The English actor played the part of Rory Williams, the companion of the 11th Doctor, portrayed by Matt Smith in the hit BBC series. He was with the series from the fifth season onward and became a regular on the sixth and seventh seasons of the show. Midway through the seventh season, his part and that of Amy's were written out, and they parted ways with The Doctor in the episode titled, "The Angels Take Manhattan."

The "Doctor Who" comic panel was attended by writers and creators of the comic books such as Steve White, Robbie Morrison, Simon Fraser, Nick Abadzis, Rob Williams and Andrew James. It was also announced at the NY Comic Con that Titan will publish the comic book featuring the ninth Doctor bearing the likeness of Christopher Eccleston. It will also feature Captain Jack and Rose and should be available in time for the celebration of the 10th year of the return of the series to television.

Meanwhile, the Titan booth unveiled new and exclusive "Doctor Who" comic books, such as "Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor #1," "Doctor Who: The Eleventh Doctor #1" and "Doctor Who: The Twelfth Doctor #1."
