The farewell season of NBC's "Parenthood" continues this Thursday with an all-new episode in which Zeek struggles to adjust to a new phase in his life, Sarah meets Hank's ex-wife in less than ideal circumstances and Julia and Joel discuss telling about others about their broken marriage.

A new video promo from the upcoming episode, published exclusively on The Hollywood Reporter, reveals that Zeek does make it through a successful open heart surgery. However, his return home won't be very easy.

In the clip, the head of the Braverman clan struggles to get out of the car. He then looks ahead to the daunting task of walking from the car into his home.

"This is something that affects the entire family and it informs what everybody will go through the whole season," executive producer Jason Katims told THR about the theme of mortality in the finale season. "Even the storylines that don't seem like they're going to be connected to that story, they're still affected by it. It's something that definitely influences the whole season. Tonally, the show will have pockets of humor and lighter moments throughout but overall the season will have a lot of gravitas because of the subject matter," added the showrunner.

Another teaser video also reveals that Max will have a crush on a new girl, and that Ruby runs into Sarah as she appears to be half undressed in Hank's room. In addition, Julia and Joel talk about breaking the news about their seperation to their loved ones.

AceShowBiz also published the official synopsis of the upcoming episode, titled "Potpourri of Freaks," which states:

"Max (Max Burkholder) meets a new friend who means more to him than Kristina (Monica Potter) and Adam (Peter Krause) initially expect. After an awkward run-in with Sandy (Betsy Brandt), Sarah (Lauren Graham) tries to understand her place in Ruby's life, and conflict-averse Hank (Ray Romano) must test out his diplomacy skills. Julia (Erika Christensen) and Joel (Sam Jaeger) fear that the uncertainty of their separation is harming their children. Crosby (Dax Shepard) tries to avert crisis at the Lunchonette by chasing down Oliver (Tyson Ritter), who has gone off-the-grid".

Season 6 Episode 3 of "Parenthood," "Potpourri of Freaks," airs on Thursday, Oct. 16, on NBC.
