The popular game "Minecraft" will be made into a movie and the director has been chosen.

Shawn Levy, who has directed and produced the "Night in the Museum" movie series, will direct the "Minecraft" movie.

According to Deadline, Warner Bros., the studio that made "The Lego Movie," will be making a film based on the popular video game. Roy Lee, who produced "The Lego Movie," and Jill Messick are producing the film.

Levy has directed or produced various other movies, including his last one: "This is Where I Leave You." His other films are the "Night At The Museum" series, "Real Steel," "Big Fat Liar," "The Pink Panther" and the recently released "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day"

However, the Swedish studio that makes "Minecraft," Mojang, had not entirely withheld information on an upcoming movie. In an interview with the Guardian, the company's chief operating officer Vu Bui explained about how work on the movie had recently begun.

"I still have no idea. A long time," Bui said about the film's expected release. "I'm going to guess three years, but it could be four, probably not two. 3-4 years seems to be a reasonable bet."

"We were approached by so many studios, but after talking to Warner Bros, we decided that this are absolutely the team we want to work with," Bui continued explaining. "They respect the brand, respect the IP, and want to make something that is going to be awesome, not just capitalize on the success of the game."

Warner Bros. purchased the rights to "Minecraft," according to Game Informer. Microsoft bought Mojang for $2.5 billion.

Nonetheless, "Minecraft" the game has also seen a new update for PlayStation 4, according to Playstation LifeStyle. The updates were first introduced in Europe and are expected to be introduced to North America.

PlayStation LifeStyle has an extensive list of the fixes. They also explain that there has been a new addition of a "Copy Save" button "to allow people to 'back-up' their world to another save."
