It looks like Season 2 of HBO's "True Detective" is likely to premiere in summer 2015.

According to The Epoch Times, the delay in the premiere has been due to casting problems. Moreover, filming has not started yet. This is contrary to earlier news which said the date for the premiere was January 2015. However, it looks like viewers can expect to see the first episode of Season 2 around fall of 2015.

HBO and its partners are saying that the filming will start this fall but the production date has not yet been announced and several main roles are yet to be cast. There is no word on the crew to be hired.

Still, it has been confirmed that Nic Pizzolatto will be the sole writer for Season 2, which will follow the anthology format of Season 1.

Colin Farrell stars as the compromised detective Ray Velcoro, while Vince Vaughn will play the role of Frank Semyon, a career criminal whose life will be turned upside down when his close associate, the corrupt city mayor Ben Caspar, was found dead and abandoned along the highway. The two are involved in a bribery scandal regarding the construction of a major railway. Justin Lin has been confirmed to direct at least the first two episodes of Season 2.

The actress who will be playing the other police officer, California Sheriff Ani Bezzerides, has yet to be cast. A top contender is Rachel McAdams, although there are still several actresses that are being considered, including Kelly Reilly, Oona Chaplin, Jessica Biel, Malin Akerman, Rosario Dawson, Brit Marling and Jaimie Alexander.

It has also been confirmed by Nic Pizzolatto that "True Detective" will be working with several directors to allow them to do post-production work while they are in the process of shooting new episodes.
