Rihanna's latest antics in Thailand, posing with an illegal, endangered primate and attending a disturbing sex show in the island of Phuket, may have gained her more attention, but in reality she has spotlighted an issue on a much grander scale -- sex exploitation, child prostitution and human trafficking.

The 25-year-old pop star's lewd, tasteless tweets make light of a grim reality that affects exploited women and children in Thailand and around the globe.

According to Rihanna's Twitter: "Either I was ph*ck wasted lastnight, or I saw a Thai woman pull a live bird,2 turtles, razors, shoot darts and ping pong, all out of her p*$y. The birds feathers were all damp! Lol And THEN she tried to turn water into coke in her $!! Uhh yea, all I'm saying is water went in and soda came out! I'm traumatized!!!" posted by Perezhilton.com.

"Thailand is a country with internal trafficking of women and children for commercial sexual exploitation, and labor trafficking," reports humantrafficking.org.

"According to the Thai Government, there are no laws that specifically address sex tourism," Humantrafficking.org adds. "However, the criminal code, laws on prostitution, and laws combating trafficking in persons contain provisions to combat sex tourism. While it is widely believed there are fewer incidences of Thai citizens forced into prostitution today than in past years, children from poor families remain vulnerable, and there are some incidences of Thai parents who force their children into prostitution."

The 1996 Prostitution Prevention and Suppression Act was implemented and "imposes heavy penalties on whoever procures, lures, compels, or threatens children under 18 years old for the purpose of prostitution."
