The popular TLC reality show "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" has ended after rumors surfaced that Mama June, otherwise known as June Shannon, had begun dating a convicted child molester.

Although the network had said it was looking into the matter yesterday, it announced Friday morning the show would be axed.

The trouble commenced when rumors surfaced earlier this week that Honey Boo Boo's mother, Mama June, had begun dating a convicted child molester by the name of Mark McDaniel, according to TMZ.

McDaniel was convicted in 2004 for aggravated child molestation of an 8-year-old girl who is one of Shannon's relatives. He was released in 2014 and now is a registered sex offender.

"TLC is not currently in production on 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.' We are very concerned about this new information and are reassessing the future of the series," TLC said in a statement, when approached with the allegations, according to Deadline.

However, the cable network announced Friday morning that they would be cancelling the reality TV show, which has run for two years.

"TLC has canceled the series 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' and ended all activities around the series, effective immediately. Supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children is our only priority. TLC is faithfully committed to the children's ongoing comfort and well-being," the network said in a statement, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Since the emergence of these allegations, Mama June and her family have been denying that she has been dating McDaniel. According to E! News, Mama June took to Facebook to "clear up the rumors."

"You can't believe everything you read! Ppl sell stories to the tabloid(s) everyday that r false!" she wrote. "I promise my kids r #1 priority over anything else and I would never put them in danger period over this or anything else they r my life[.]"

"Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" was cancelled after its fourth season.
