The 2014 World Series is all tied up between the San Francisco Giants and the Kansas City Royals, and now the two teams square off on Friday in Game 3 at San Francisco as they attempt to swing the series in their respective favors.

The Giants struck first with an impressive performance in Game 3. The Giants took a 1-0 series lead after Game 1 after they defeated the Royals 7-1 on the road in Kansas City. Starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner was fantastic, pitching seven full innings and allowing just one run. There's a chance we could see Bumgarner pitch three games in this World Series.

Royals pitcher James Shields didn't have a good performance in Game 1. The 32-year-old right hander lasted just three innings and allowed five runs. The only run for the Royals scored in that game was a Salvador Perez home run in the seventh inning.

Giants lead series 1-0.

Game 2 was a far different story. The 23-year-old Yordano Ventura out of the Dominican Republic got the start for the Royals, and he made it count. In his first-ever World Series game, Ventura allowed a home run to the very first hitter, Gregor Blanco, and showed excellent resilience. Ventura would allow just one more run over the next 5.1 innings.

The Royals offense finally stepped up, with Alcides Escobar getting an RBI double in the second inning that proved to be the game-winner. Perez kept his hot streak going with a hit, a run and two RBI's in game two. Venezuelan infielder Omar Infante hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning to put the icing on the cake, giving the Royals a 7-2 lead.

To add insult to injury, Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum had to leave the game after just 23 pitches. Lincecum landed awkwardly on the pitching mound after he threw a pitch in the eighth inning. The Royals won Game 2, 7-2 to tie the series at 1 game apiece.

With the series tied 1-1 after two games of play, the next three consecutive games will be played in San Francisco. If the Royals can extend the series, Games 6 and 7 will be played back at Kansas City. The World Series has had a 2-3-2 format since 1924.

Tim Hudson will start Game 3 for the Giants, and Jeremy Guthrie will start for the Royals.

Hudson didn't have his best regular season at 38 years of age, posting a 9-13 record this season. Hudson played well against the Washington Nationals, but had a rough outing against the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Championship Series.

Guthrie is also a veteran of the game having played in the big leagues since 2004 with the Cleveland Indians. He won 13 games during the regular season and saw postseason action in the American League Championship Series for the first time in his career.

Schedule, Where to Watch

Game 3 will be played at 8:07 p.m. EDT on Friday, Oct. 24, at AT&T Stadium in San Francisco, California. The game will be shown nationwide on FOX. Live stream of Game 3 can be found here.

Predictions

With the series heading back to San Francisco for three consecutive games, the Giants have the edge. If they can simply win two of three home games, they lead the series 3-2 after five games. Still, the Royals should be able to take their momentum from Game 2 and get a victory in game 3. Guthrie will most likely out-pitch Hudson and the Royals bullpen is among the best in the league. The Royals were one of the best road teams during the regular season, posting a 47-34 record away from home.

Royals win Game 3, 5-4.
