Respawn Entertainment just released Content Update 8, a DLC that adds Frontier Defense four-player co-op mode, a new Ranked Play mode, full screen minimap, bug fixes, and a lot more. Watch the video below for a full preview of what's new in Titanfall Update 8.

Currently, the Windows PC and Xbox One versions of Titanfall are eligible for the huge, free Content Update 8, with the Xbox 360's release date coming later.

A full breakdown of what Respawn Entertainment included in the game update is available on the Titanfall site, but here are some of the highlights.

New Gameplay Mode: Frontier Defense

This is the biggest new feature of Update 8. Like most defense modes, you and your teammates work together to mow down waves of AI combatants and defend your position, with each successive wave getting more and more intense.

Frontier Defense allows for four-player coop to face hoards of Grunts, Spectres, Sniper Spectres, Cloak Drones, Suicide Spectres, Nuclear Titans, Mortar Titans, and even Arc Titans.

You'll be able to use new Loadout Crates stationed near the objective to switch your gear quickly and refill your ammo. Every Frontier map from previous Titanfall expansions including IMC Rising are available for this new game mode.

Ranked Play

Ranked Play judges your performance against other Pilots, as you work your way up several sets of Tiers. It works in all standard competitive matches.

Ranked Play is still in beta -- at least through October -- so currently only Gen 10 players automatically get access.

However, those players start with 5 invites for any other players, regardless of generation, and each subsequent day they can invite 3 more players. Time to get friendly with a Gen 10 player!

Respawn says they may also end up expanding access themselves during the short beta period.

New Feature: Full Screen Minimap

Another nice little improvement is the ability to bring up a full map in battle. Just press Right D-Pad for Xbox and M for PC.

Much, Much More!

There are dozens of bug fixes, gameplay improvements, and smaller new features in Update 8. Check out Respawn's rundown for the full list and watch the official Titanfall preview video (above) for more details.
