The final cast of "True Detective" Season 2 has yet to be released. So far, the female lead has not yet been cast.

With Elizabeth Moss starring in Broadway musical, it is still a toss-up between Rachel McAdams and six other actresses. The delay in casting the other leads means that production may start this October or even later this year, which means that there is a probability that the premiere (originally pegged for the summer of 2015) might be pushed back further.

Taylor Kitsch is another actor whose name appears in the numerous rumors about the show's second season.

It was reported that Kitsch said that, even if he does not get cast in the show, he's still going to watch it since he is an avid fan of the show's writer, Nic Pizzolatto. So far he had said that the rumor is false, although he was also quoted as saying that people will know in a few days, according to True Detective Rumors. Does that mean that he will be part of the cast and his team is just ironing things out?

If this is true, then Kitsch will play the role of a California Highway Patrol officer and military veteran who had been suspended for his sexual exploitation of a young woman that he pulled over during his shift. Just like most of the characters in the new episodes of "True Detective," his character had seen too much destruction and violence.

So far, what's known is that Colin Farrell will play the title role, with Vince Vaughn as a villain. Justin Lin, the director of the "Fast and Furious" film series, will direct at least the first two episodes and there will be multiple directors for this second outing. The second season will have eight episodes and will revolve around the murder of the corrupt city mayor, 52-year-old Ben Caspar. Nic Pizzolatto will still be the sole writer for the show.
