There was a low-resolution video trailer of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" that was leaked online very recently. Due to the leak, Disney and Marvel were forced to act quickly and release the official version.

The online release pre-empted the scheduled showing of the official trailer next week.

There was already a schedule for the release of the official trailer, which was supposed to be on Tuesday during Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." show on ABC.

Marvel opted to release the high-quality version of the trailer. It first posted a tweet addressed to its 1.9 million followers containing only two words: "Dammit, Hydra." Later, Marvel posted another tweet saying that the teaser video was out and gave a link for where to watch it.

The trailer was first screened during the Comic-Con events in San Diego and New York. In any event, the trailer showed the reunion of the old Avengers gang: Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) and Captain America (Chris Evans).

In the trailer, Ultron the supervillain was shown wreaking havoc on city streets and a sinister voice (James Spader) told the Avengers that all of them were just puppets suspended on strings.

Despite the leak, the trailer has broken the records of other Marvel movie teasers, such as "Iron Man 3" and "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

Within 24 hours of its release, it received 34.3 million views from a global audience. The original "Avengers" movie garnered only 20.4 million views in 24 hours. "Iron Man 3" had 23.14 million, while "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" had 23.5 million in one day.

The anticipation and popularity of the "Avengers" franchise is so high that insiders are expecting that it will be another record-busting movie franchise when it hits theaters on May 1, 2015.
