Colombian singer Carlos Vives must have "Corazón Profundo," once he heard the news that he's up for five Latin Grammy nominations.

Along with Vives, Argentine fusion group Illya Kuryaki & the Valderramas have also taken the Latin Grammys by storm with five Latin Grammy Award nominations.

Following with four Latin Grammy noms is Spanish star Alejandro Sanz, Edgar Barrera, Andres Castro, Julio Reyes Copello and Caetano.

A unexpected but very talented wild card has been added to the mix this year -- R&B singer Natalie Cole. Cole has made quite the splash in Latin music this year with her crossover album "En Español," which debuted at No. 1 on the Latin Albums chart.

She scored three nominations, alongside Puerto Rican singer, Draco Rosa, which includes an impressive nomination for Latin Grammy Album of the Year. She's in the ring with a stellar roster of Latin contenders in this category, including Miguel Bose, Carlos Vives, Alejandro Sanz, and Bajofondo, the L.A.-Argentine-Uruguayan collective, among others.

The Los Angeles Times noted that Cole is following in the footsteps of her famous father, Nat King Cole, "whose best-selling recordings of Spanish songs  half a century ago helped bridge the Spanish-language and English-language recording worlds."

"Once again, it is wonderful witness the process of Latin GRAMMY which produces a wide selection of diverse and impressive nominees across multiple genres," said President / CEO of The Latin Recording Academy Gabriel Abaroa Jr in a press release. "This year's nominations reflect the talent of the artists and are shows a unique creative community that incorporates some of the highest levels of excellence and artistry in their respective fields.
