A former member of crime and violence advocate N.W.A, Ice Cube, stopped by "Sesame Street" this week to hang out with Elmo.

The veteran rapper, neatly dressed in a plain blue button-down shirt, started off with a quick vocabulary lesson, trying to teach the furry red monster the meaning of the word "astounding."

"Are you ready to see some astounding tricks?" Ice Cube asked.

When the "You Can Do It" hitmaker found out that the puppet did not know the meaning of "astounding," he defined the word for him.

"Astounding is when something is so amazing, it catches you by surprise," he said.

Ice Cube then performed a series of magic tricks, providing examples of situations in which something can be considered astounding. He first made a large penny coin disappear and then pulled a baby dinosaur out of his top hat. Lastly, he turned himself into an actual ice cube.

Fans certainly had divided opinions about the Los Angeles emcee's recent appearance on the long-running children's television series to teach the "magic word," tweeting:

Meanwhile, Ice Cube is currently working as the executive producer for the N.W.A biopic "Straight Outta Compton," the title of which was taken from the hip-hop group's 1988 landmark debut album. He recently revealed that his 22-year-old son O'Shea Jackson is set to star in the upcoming film, which will hit theaters on Aug. 14, 2015.

"We just wrapped principal photography on 'Straight Outta Compton,'" he said on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" last week. "My son is in it, he plays me in the movie, so I'm extremely proud of that, that's cool."

When asked if his son had to audition for the role, Ice Cube responded with "hell yeah."

"He had to win the part. I ain't giving up nothing free," he explained, adding that O'Shea was "born to play the part."
