The scariest day of the 2014 calendar year is here: Halloween.

Aside from getting free candy and going to parties, this is a time to be scared. Throughout sports history, many athletes have scared and put fear into fans, players and teams.

In honor of Halloween, Latin Post.com lists the five scariest athletes of all-time. Here are five athletes who scared their opponents unlike any other:

5. Dennis Rodman

Of course Dennis Rodman had to make our list.

No player in NBA history could rebound better for a 6-foot-7 power forward. Despite being more than four inches shorter than most centers, "The Worm" intimidated others with flying elbows, high elevation and sometimes even a kick or two. Rodman once kicked a camera operator in the groin during the game. Rodman even voiced his displeasure with a referee by head-butting him. Off the court was even scarier. Rodman dressed up in wedding dresses and some of the most outrageous outfits you could imagine. Playing games with green and red hair didn't help, either.

4. Randy Johnson

The "Big Unit" was the ultimate intimidator at the pitching mound; just ask John Kruk who nearly lost his head against Johnson.

Hitters wouldn't dare crowd the plate against Johnson, who could throw over 100 miles per hour deep into games on a consistent basis. In his Hall of Fame career, Johnson hit 190 batters, the most in the modern era. In 2001, Johnson threw a fastball while a bird flew in front of him, and amazingly, the ball and bird collided with each other, killing the bird instantly. This isn't someone you want to face at the plate.

3. Tie Domi

We're used to seeing "goons" in NHL history, but Domi is one of the most notable in recent memory.

His scariest moment came in 2001, when he cheap-shotted New Jersey Devils Scott Niedermayer from behind. In his 16-year career, Domi racked up 2,265 penalty minutes.

Think about that--2,265 minutes spent in a penalty box? That's more than 37 hours.

Domi has the third-most penalty minutes in NHL history, behind only Dale Hunter and Tiger Williams. With the Toronto Maple Leafs, Domi was a slashing machine.

2. Jack Lambert

The 1970s Pittsburgh Steelers had one of the greatest defenses ever. This hard-hitting linebacker struck fear to every opposing quarterback and running back he faced. Lambert is one of the greatest linebackers in NFL history. With the Steelers, Lambert won four Super Bowls and a Defensive Player of the Year Award. Lambert was well-known for playing with injuries and lighting up receivers and tight ends in the middle of the field. Just look at that scary face.

1. Mike Tyson

It doesn't get much scarier than this.

Tyson did everything, in and out of the ring. This is the same guy who bit Evander Holyfield's ear...twice! Tyson would do whatever it took to try and defeat his opponent, even if it meant getting disqualified. Before his bout with Lennox Lewis, he said, "I want to eat his children."

Tyson has also served quite a bit of jail time for rape and other incidents. Inside the ring, Tyson was a knockout artist. He began his career a perfect 37-0 with 33 knockouts. The facial tattoo fits him perfectly. Tyson is the scariest athlete ever.
