Lucero is known to host the annual telethon on Univision, but after leaving the network, a new host has been announced.

Eugenio Derbez will be taking over, and the telethon foundation's president, Fernando Landeros, has said that Derbez will play an important part of the show.

"This year there will be a change," he said. "This is perhaps the biggest change in the history of the telethon. We have made an important change. We are changing musical numbers for comedy for entertainment, and we are incorporating new hosts."

On top of Derbez, the show will also be hosted by Omar Chaparro, Adal Ramones and Doña Rita. He is also in conversation with Thalia. Landeros added that just because there are new hosts doesn't mean old ones won't return.

Ricky Martin and Chayanne will also participate in the show.

The telethon raises money for CRIT USA, which works with children with disabilities. CRIT offers services to help each the development of children.

"A typical patient of CRIT USA will have a physical disability that he or she had at birth, that occurred as a result of an accident or other event, or that resulted from a disease or disorder such as cerebral palsy," according to TeletonUSA Foundation. "The child may be any age from several months old to an older teenager."

Derbez has yet to talk about his new hosting position.

Lucero, who was a staple at these shows, had not received an invitation as of September. The singer explained that regardless of whether or not she participated in the event, it would always remain something important to her. She had been involved with the event for 18 years. Lucero added that if she was invited, she would gladly participate. If not, then she would be happy that it's still happening, she said.
