Aaron Hernandez's alleged accomplice, Carlos Ortiz, was indicted Friday on a charge of accessory to murder in the June killing of Odin Lloyd. Hernandez's girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins was also indicted in connection with the murder.

Prior to now, Ortiz only faced a gun charge, which he pleaded not guilty to.

According to the Associated Press, Ortiz's attorney John Connors said his client would be pleading not guilty to this charge and hopes to get bail soon. Following the indictment, the case now moves to superior court at Fall River.

If Aaron Hernandez's case is any indication, Ortiz is unlikely to land bail. Hernandez has been held without bail since his arrest in June. However, Hernandez's other associate, Ernest Wallace, was also charged with accessory to murder and is currently being held on $500,000 bail.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder and weapons-related charges and remains at a county jail.

The former NFL star is also being investigated for his possible role in a double homicide that took place last year. Despite all of the allegations, he managed to go an entire year without his name surfacing. It wasn't until Lloyd's death that Hernandez's past was being investigated further.

Former NFL player Ray Lewis, who was facing murder charges of his own following a Super Bowl party more than a decade ago, said on ESPN that Hernandez's team must have known something was up.

"New England had to know something, just like 31 other teams had to know something about Aaron Hernandez's background, and that's your red flag. Now, it's up to you to say, 'You know what, I'm still going to try that.'"
