Here's our breakdown of how the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 stacks up against the
Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4.

Pros and Cons of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 doesn't seem to have many advantages over the Galaxy
Tab S 8.4. Probably, the larger 10.1-inch display is the only edge that it has over the 8.4-inch
smaller, but newer, tablet.

The Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 has only half the resolution and pixel density as of the Galaxy Tab
S 8.4 tablet. Its 1-GB RAM is also not much compared to the latter's 3GB RAM. Besides,
the 3.15-megapixel primary camera and the VGA secondary camera are also much less
compared to the Tab S 8.4's 8-megapixel primary and 2.1-megapixel secondary camera
lenses.

Pros and Cons of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4:
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has nothing but advantages over the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1. It
weighs almost half as much, and is slimmer at 6.6 mm compared to 9.7 mm. It has three times as
much memory, and double the resolution and pixel density for the screen. The cameras are
also more than twice as powerful in the Tab 2 10.1.

The only drawback to the Tab S 8.4 is that it is smaller than the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 features a 10.1-inch PLS TFT display with 800x1280-
pixel resolution and 149-ppi density. The tablet is available in 16GB and 32GB storage
configurations with expansion slot up to 32GB. Its primary camera has a 3.15-megapixel lens
that can capture images at 2048x1536 pixels. It is powered by Android Ice Cream Sandwich
4.0.3 which could be upgraded to Jelly Bean 4.1. Samsung's TouchWiz UX UI sits on top of
the OS. At the heart of the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 is a dual-core Cortex-A9 CPU that can clock a
speed of 1 GHz.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 has an 8.4-inch Super AMOLED display with 1600x2560-pixel
resolution and 359-ppi density. The tablet is available in 16GB and 32GB configurations with
microSD expansion slot with maximum storage capacity up to 128GB. The most powerful
version has a 2.3-GHz, quad-core Krait 400 CPU. The other versions have a 1.3-GHz quad-core Cortex A7 and a 1.9-GHz quad-core Cortex A15 CPU. Supported by 3GB RAM, the
Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is almost as powerful as a current-gen desktop.

Other features of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 include an 8-megapixel primary camera, a
2.1-megapixel front facing camera, Android KitKat, 6.6 mm thickness, 298 g weight, 50 GB
Dropbox space and a fingerprint sensor.

compared to its larger brother. The Galaxy Tab S 8.4 was the second 8.4-inch tab from the
company and is in direct competition with the iPad Mini and LG's G Pad 8.3. it was unveiled at
the Samsung Galaxy Premier in New York.
