Beware, fans of the Bridget Jones books, for a shocking revelation will be unveiled in the latest franchise installment entitled Mad About The Boy.

The latest extracts taken from the new book reveals the world's most prominent single writer character is now a widow with two children to take care of alone, BBC wrote. After 15 years since the last novel, it somehow turned out that Bridget tied the knot with Mark Darcy and they had two kids. But to kill the character of Marcy seemed like the way author Helen Fielding can put back her main character on the 'single and ready to mingle' market.

The extracts were first seen in the extracts published by the Sunday Times Magazine.

Telegraph UK recalls how the Bridget Jones' Diary first became a hit way back in 1995. The two bestsellers even came with their own movie adaptations that were also a hit. It featured actress Renee Zellweger as Bridget Jones while the Darcy character was played out by Colin Firth.

The famous heroine of the story was somehow based on the classic novel of Jane Austen which is Pride and Prejudice. It centers right around Jones' love interests like Darcy and her boss, Daniel Cleaver. But this time around with the newest installment, Bridget Jones is now a 51-year-old widow.

Helen Fielding has always denied that her famous story is based on her own life since she herself is in her 50s and a single mom of two kids. It was in 2009 when she put an end to her relationship with Kevin Curran, a television executive.

The latest book revolves around the new adventures of Bridget being a 50-something cougar who meets Roxter over Twitter, who is a 30 years old. This is right after Darcy's death, five years later.

For the rest of the story of Bridget Jones' love life, it is best to get a copy of Mad About The Boy on October 10.
