1.9 million viewers tuned in to the new season of Homeland, proving that the counter-terrorism drama starring Claire Danes continues to magnetize viewers, LA Times reports.

The episode entitled "Tinman is Down," shows a largely unstable Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and a desperate Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) struggling to brush off the debris from the bombing attack at Langley.

One look at Carrie and the audience knows she is volatile, with lover Nick Brody (Damian Lewis) across the Canadian border, and she being off her meds. Nonetheless, Carrie is back at Langley to clear her lover's name, but she's barely coping to even explain her 14-hour absence during the bombing. The hostile interrogation of the Senate Committee into the event makes matters even worse for the bipolar agent, according to HuffPost TV.

Meanwhile, Saul, who has turned seemingly ruthless, is willing to sacrifice his friend and his best agent to save the CIA from being disbanded. To complicate things of course, the terrorist event that left 219 people dead sparked a witch-hunt led by Senate Committee Chairman Andrew Lockhart (Tracy Letts), whose central goal seems to be to decimate the Agency.

In the previous season's finale, viewers have seen how Carrie helped Brody escape, as it was his car that terrorists used to pack in the bomb and to blow it off right next to the venue where the memorial service for the Vice President is being held. With such a huge devastation, a massive and intense manhunt is launched for disgraced Congressman Brody, who is said to appear in the season's third episode. Meanwhile, Brody's family is left to pick up the pieces by themselves, with wife Jessica (Morena Baccarin) in financial trouble and daughter Dana (Morgan Saylor) attempting suicide.

The CIA redeems itself with the killing of six (6) key terrorists believed to be the brains behind the bombing, and viewers watched in paused breaths as Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) murders "Tinman" in his own compound.  However, the Senate Committee is unimpressed by the successful operation, and the threat of CIA being disbanded continues to loom over the horizon.

The numbers speak for themselves; 1.9 million viewers affirmed that Homeland is off to a great start, and it seems the next episode is too far off for the wait!
