On Friday, Nov. 21, Leah Messer tweeted out her decision to leave MTV's "Teen Mom 2" after starring in the hit reality-TV series for five seasons, Us Weekly reports.

Messer's shocking "Teen Mom 2" announcement was in response to a Twitter user's question about whether Messer would appear on the upcoming Season 6, to which the mother of three simply replied, "no."

Despite her decision to leave the MTV series, Messer still sent out well wishes to her "Teen Mom 2" co-stars Jenelle Evans, Chelsea Houska and Kailyn Lowry on the future seasons of the show.

Although her appearance on "Teen Mom 2" for the last five seasons has certainly helped her financially, Messer allegedly quit the show because of her negative portrayal on camera that could potentially jeopardize her chances to maintain custody of her twin daughters, Ali and Aleeah, Radar Online reports.

While appearing on "Teen Mom 2," Messer was accused of abusing prescription medication she used to alleviate her anxiety. Radar Online reports that Messer even admitted on television that she felt like a "druggy" because of her excessive use of prescription medication.

Following her shocking admission on TV, Messer's estranged husband, Corey Simms, used the video footage against her in court, claiming that Messer was an unfit mother for her children and therefore must lose custody of her daughters, RadarOnline says.

Because of the backlash she received from the "Teen Mom 2" episode, Messer ultimately made the decision to quit the show, according to a source of the tabloid website.

"Leah's final court date is coming up, and her behavior on the show made her look really bad to the judge," the source explained. "Leah's daughters are her number one priority. Now that the show could lead her to lose custody, she's ready to leave her reality TV life behind."
