The 39-year-old Colombian actress, Paula Garces, who is currently known for role as Flora Hernandez on the Lifetime drama, Devious Maids, recently opened up about being a teenage mother.

Garces, older and wiser, is pregnant with her second child, causing her to reflect on the past.

"When I was pregnant with Skye I was 17. I hid the pregnancy from my parents, my agents, my teachers -- everybody -- and I felt horrible," Gárces said.

The Spanish Harlem-raised Latina was burdened with talent and big dreams, and felt herself a statistic because of the pregnancy. She thought that her daughter, Skye was a mistake at the time, but felt a growing connection with her as months passed, and knew that she wanted to keep the baby. Then, on food stamps, welfare and pregnant, it seemed impossible that she would realize her dreams of moving to Hollywood to become an actress.

Somehow, she managed to make it to Hollywood even with her newfound role as Mommy.

She first appeared in Hangin' With the Homeboys, an episode of Law & Order, Life with Mikey and Dangerous Minds before appearing in more well-known titles, Clockstoppers, the Harold & Kumar series, The Shield, Defying Gravity and All My Children. Paula Garces has also created a Latina Superhero, Aluna.

Now, married to husband of ten years Antonio Hernandez, with a 21-year-old daughter in college and maintaining a full schedule as a career actress, the circumstances surrounding her pregnancy are much different this time around. Her new balanced life is evident from the lavish baby shower that she threw in anticipation of her baby, and the relaxed smile she had in photos of the event.

While this is her second child, this is her fourth pregnancy; Garces suffered two miscarriages while married to Hernandez. She considers the pregnancy a miracle; and, the baby, a boy, is expected this December.
