On Tuesday, Ariana Grande responded on Twitter to Bette Midler's negative comments on the "Love me Harder" singer's seemingly overtly sexual image.

During a recent interview with The Telegraph, Midler was asked about her opinion on the "pornification of pop music," to which Midler responded, "It's terrible!"

Midler then elaborated on the subject matter and used Grande as an example of someone she thinks looks "so ridiculous" attempting to "sell sex" on stage.

"It's always surprising to see someone like Ariana Grande with that silly high voice, a very wholesome voice, slithering around on a couch..." -- here, she does some slithering herself -- "looking so ridiculous, Midler explained. " I mean, it's silly beyond belief and I don't know who's telling her to do it. I wish they'd stop. But it's not my business, I'm not her mother. Or her manager. Maybe they tell them that's what you've got to do. Sex sells. Sex has always sold."

Midler was later asked to provide a bit of advice to today's singers who "pornify pop music." Midler answered, "Trust your talent. You don't have to make a whore out of yourself to get ahead. You really don't."

Despite Midler's negative comments on Grande's pop image, the "Break Free" singer still responded kindly to Midler on Twitter and revealed that she still loves Midler despite her hostility towards her.

Grande later posted another tweet revealing her plans to continue watching one of Midler's hit movies, "The First Wives Club" -- a movie that Grande admits to quoting "every single day of my life."

To much surprise, Midler also responded kindly to Grande's tweet and complimented the 21-year-old singer on her "beautiful voice."
