Warning: This article contrains spoilers from "Grey's Anatomy."

"Grey's Anatomy" will not return until Jan. 29, and fans of ABC's medical drama are using the wait to speculate as to just what might happen during the rest of Season 11. This is especially true because Season 11, Episode 9 -- the last to air before the holiday hiatus -- was filled with cliffhangers.

"Certain characters are expected to step up to solve problems," International Business Times reported. "Alex Karev, Arizona Robbins, and Amelia Shepherd are expected to come through, not only for themselves, but for other characters at Grey Sloan Memorial."

What is left of the season may also focus on new characters who are yet to be introduced, according to BreatheCast.

"Travis, a male-to-female transgendered person will begin to make the rounds at Grey Sloan Memorial [starting in January]," the website reported.

Fans have not yet been able to find out who will play Travis, as details about the addition are being "closely guarded," Inquisitr reported. Christian Today claims the 30-something will make the transition from a man to a woman and "become close to someone from the hospital."

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes and her writers "are not afraid of controversy" and have been known to focus on LGBT themes. For example, Dr. Callie Torres discovered her bisexuality on the show, and Dr. Arizona Robbins was one of the first openly lesbian characters on primetime television.

When Torres and Robbins married, "Grey's Anatomy" broke ground by staging the first same-sex wedding depicted on television.

"Rhimes and her writing staff (are now) filling out the 'T' in LGBT by introducing Travis to Grey-Sloan Hospital," Inquisitr reported.

Meanwhile, fans have been trying to perdict future development by scrutinizing the recently revealed titles of upcoming episodes. Episode 11, set to air Feb. 5, is titled "The Bed's Too Big Without You," while Episode 12, set to air Feb. 12, is titled "The Great Pretender," Wetpaint reported. What the Jan. 29 returepisode  will be called, however, is not yet known.
