The new incoming video game platforms are expected to have a special interactive edge, but now the games are hopping on board to do the same. Microsoft got a much-needed publicity boost this week when it was learned that a special interactive feature would be added exclusively to the Xbox One version of Madden 25.

Madden 25 gameplay will be somewhat revolutionized interactively by the introduction of CoachGlass, an app where users can study their opponents on social media platforms such as an iPad while playing the main game on the television screen.

Thomas Singleton of EA Sports told venturebeat.com writer Ginacarlo Valdes that EA was thinking about creating this app but wanted to do so in the best way possible.

"When we thought about building a companion app that was utilizing SmartGlass, we didn't want something that was passive," Singleton said. "What we wanted to build was something that was engaging, interactive, meaningful, and made sense to the sport of football."

The app stores the opponent's last 64 plays so that you can browse through and check out what to expect. It also notifies users of their opponent's habits and tendencies as they play.

Valdes had the opportunity to experience CoachGlass while Singleton was there and offered his opinion on what he thought about it.

"One of the first things that struck me about CoachGlass was how robust it was," he said. "It's far from a simple stats sheet: CoachGlass feeds you the plays it thinks you should pick based on data from the game you're in and from online matches within the Madden community. Think of it as a live, crowdsourced alternative to the Ask Madden feature."

Madden 25 is already available to play on Xbox 360 and PS3 and will be available to play on the Xbox One and PS4 upon their respective releases in November.
