While appearing on the red carpet for the N.Y.C. premiere of "Selma," actor and producer, Tyler Perry spoke with People about fatherhood and his son who was born last month.

"It's been two weeks today. It's been surreal, incredible, moving," Perry said about the birth of his newborn baby. "I see my face in him every day and it's pretty wonderful."

Now that he is a father, the "Madea" actor revealed that he plans to "usher" his child through life rather than impose his celebrity and status, People reports.

"[I'm surprised] how much of a personality he has of his own," Perry added. "Just watching his facial expressions and realizing that this kid has come to me with his own life, and mine is not his and his is not mine. I'm just here to usher him."

Perry also spoke to the New York Post's Page Six while attending the "Selma" premiere and admitted that he has a hard time changing his son's diapers.

"It's hard and difficult for me because I have very big hands, so I'm not that comfortable at it yet," Perry joked. "He's very small. I need him to get a little bit bigger, then I'll be better."

E! news reports that Perry and his longtime girlfriend, Gelila Bekele have named their son, Aman.

Prior to Aman's birth, Perry gushed to E! News about the future  arrival of his son.

"The greatest gift I'm being given right now is the opportunity to give the little boy in me everything I never had, so that's what I'm excited about," he told E! News. "This beautiful human being that God has allowed to come into my life for me to get to know, because they come with their own personalities, who they are, to shepherd and usher him."

Perry and Bekele have yet to release photo of newborn baby, Aman.
