Keurig Green Mountain is recalling about 6.6 million MINI Plus Brewing Systems in the United States following burn reports.

According to USA Today, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported Tuesday that there are over 500,000 Keurig machine recalls in Canada. All machines with an I.D. number starting with the number 31 are being recalled, along with the model number K10.

Over 200 reports say the single-serve hot beverage brewers made by the Waterbury Vermont Company had water coming out of the brewer, and about 90 of those reports included burn-related injuries.

"Hopefully the consumers will have some recourse, especially those badly hurt," Carl Tobias, professor at the University of Richmond School of Law, told the newspaper. "My major concern is public safety. Will people know if there are that many millions out there? It is the holidays and people aren't necessarily near their computers."

The machines were sold online and in stores in the U.S. and Canada from December 2009 through December 2014 for about $100. All customers are recommended to contact the company for any free repairs.

According to CBS, customers can call 1-844-255-7886 for the free repair. When the customer makes the call, a free repair kit that will fix the issue will be sent to them, The Associated Press reported. In the meantime, the Keurig company suggested that customers stay within arm's length of the machine as they wait for the repair kit to arrive.

Since the recalls, Keurig Green Mountain Inc. shares fell 2.2 percent to $136.70 on Tuesday.

On the closing bell on Dec. 4, the Keurig company acquired the remainder of Bevyz Global which is the same portion of the investment that PepsiCo decided to disconnected, Seeking Alpha reports. The Bevyz machine, unlike the Keurig, can also make cold drinks, but it is not as affordable as the Keurig and fails to have as many investors.
