Many might imagine that living in Buckingham Palace, being married to a prince, and being a part of royal family means to live a life that is extremely lavish, prodigal and extravagant. The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton proves it all wrong -- she is just as thrifty as the rest of us.

The royal couple Kate Middleton and Prince William made news with the birth of their baby boy, Prince George, a few months ago. Middleton visited The Old Stables Shop, a Norfolk antiques store, when she was pregnant with Prince George. The store is located near their new 10-bedroom Georgian country home on the Queen's Sandringham estate.

The owner of the store Carolyn Combe said that Kate Middleton asked her for a discount on the items that she gathered to purchase. "Kate came in when quite pregnant... Such thin legs in her wellies. She was looking at various things and asked for a discount."

Carolyn Combe's husband Roger, who runs the store, added that the royal couple's visit was just like any other normal husbands and wife's shopping visit. "If I may say so, William looked like every man who's forced to go shopping with his wife, which is bored bloody stiff and didn't get out of the car."

Interesting.

So did the Duchess of Cambridge get her discount as she asked for? "Of course," Carolyn said. "She's got a big house to do up. But I love her for asking." This is a great way to preserve her royal budget.
